Free to eat like you and me

Eat the food your body loves, and I’ll do the same.
 
For this holiday weekend ahead, we get to take lots of liberties.
We get time off, we get to soak in the relaxation of vacation and simply being with friends and family, often without time restrictions. This, my friendly readers, is freedom.

My quick note to you today is about freedom when it comes to food. And I mean vacation food.  Some people interpret a “free” weekend as a time to just toss all inhibitions aside and eat the least healthy items on the table (hot dogs, jello fluff, I’m looking at you).
 .
I am a BIG fan of holidays and enjoy taking time in my life to play and be social. It’s part of what makes me feel healthy and alive.
.

But I also honor my body during these times of vacation and rest – I drink lots of water, focus on fresh foods and avoid too many things that I know will make me feel less than optimal during what few precious vacation days I have. I want to feel well and ready to keep playing with my friends day after day when I have time off, so I indulge myself by honoring myself. I take small liberties and also choose to prepare items that everyone will love that I know are going to make me feel good, too.

Remember we have the freedom to eat what’s best for you and me.

Each of us has our own unique body, stress levels, work life, and overall living situation that indicates how we take our food, and most importantly, what foods our body loves.
.
This weekend, as always, I encourage you to hold fast to your unique food style, and without making it a big deal, continue to feel the freedom that comes from eating to feel vibrantly alive.
